January News from the Chair
9th December 2024

I have had the pleasure of meeting the Third Age Trust's new CEO, Iain Cassidy, three times recently. He is so enthusiastic about our organisation and very focussed on its promotion, within the UK . He speaks passionately about the 'power of social connections' for improving people's lives physically and mentally, through u3a membership.
Going to visit a place on your own can be quite daunting. You may well decide to stay at home. You might feel a bit vulnerable or think people would see you as 'billy no-mates'! The u3a gives members friendship, confidence, a plan and opportunities to widen their horizons. I am totally on board with this.
People can become a key part of the u3a as group members, as group leaders, as volunteers in all manner of ways and do it for fun. In 2025 we have many exciting things planned for Croydon u3a with 68 interest groups meeting regularly, outings and holidays, lunch dates, workshops and monthly meetings with excellent speakers.
I am so proud of what we have to offer - if you are not a member yet, what are you waiting for? Make it your New Year's gift to yourself. You won't regret it.
Very best wishes for 2025,
Jenny
