Writing for Pleasure

When: 1st Wednesday in the month (Face to Face) at 1.45pm & 3rd Wednesday (on Zoom) at 7pm
Where: Shirley Methodist Church, CR0 8SD
This group is going from strength to strength and having so much fun in the process.
Sometimes one of the group has been time-short and comes along to listen and there is no problem with that. Writing and listening to others' writings are all part of it.
Recent topics - all suggested and agreed by the group have included The Playground, A Postcard (from afar) and Snowed in at a Scottish hotel. Recent topics have been An Inanimate Object (speaks) and The Birthday, this latter subject being chosen in honour of Croydon u3a's 37th birthday in April. And we have such fun getting the creative juices following! And we always have cake!
At our recent Zoom meeting, a new member reported back - 'This was my first experience with the group and zooming. you are a great bunch'. Another new member said 'Thank you for making me so welcome'.
One member has recently produced a book of short stories called 'More Snapshots' and he presented us all with a personal copy, noting in the Apologia his appreciation of the stimulation this group has given him.
Another member has entered the u3a's National Story Writing Competition - we wish her lots of luck. Last year one of our members was a finalist and is now in possession of her Gold Medal.
Do you fancy joining the group - no previous experience needed. Get in touch and join us for a trial session.
