A Taste of World Cuisines

When: 1st Tuesday at lunchtime
Where: various venues
Public transport or car share
What does it take to join a group like ours?
Is it:
- An interest in trying new foods, unveiling new tastes?
- Meeting together in convivial surroundings?
- Taking risks and widening your horizons?
- Learning how to pronounce foreign language menu items and translating them into English?
- Using different tableware and understanding different dining etiquettes?
The world has become a map of diverse flavours, colours and textures and we are spoilt for choice when it comes to exploring different ethnic restaurants. Our visits to a Far Eastern and South American restaurant were enjoyed by all. We discovered that you can relish the smells and flavours of Japanese Ramen, Chilli Yaki Soba, Empanadas, Arepas con Queso – a real feast of the meekest ingredients.
Conversation around the table inevitably touches on the places in the world we have travelled to, unfamiliar ingredients, proverbial sayings that ‘anything that walks, crawls, swims or flies is edible’. There is laughter, learning and living well.
You don’t have to buy a plane ticket. You can experience the diverse people and traditions of our planet right here in our neighbourhood of London.
